Definition

Litres of pure alcohol consumed per person aged 15 and over in a year. A WHO estimate that adds recorded consumption (sales and production statistics) and unrecorded consumption (home-made alcohol, tourism and other estimates); a three-year average (SDG 3.5.2).

A WHO model estimate, not national statistics; when a new edition comes out, past values are recalculated too (current values = 2026-06-15 update). A different yardstick from the KDCA high-risk drinking rate (survey responses).
